The architecture attempts to re-create the atmosphere of Fremantle in a contemporary way and draws inspiration from the raw warehouse style aesthetic that can be found throughout the precinct. With a rustic and industrial, yet modern material pallet, the interior design continues the exterior architecture theme of celebrating and exposing construction materials. Features include recycled bricks, raw concrete, natural timbers and matte black plumbing fixtures, light fittings, bathroom steel shelves. A main design principle was to work with the tight floor areas prescribed by the client and create spaces that felt open, light and unrestricted. In order to achieve this, a sense of volume and continuity was applied wherever possible. High ceilings and full height glazed doors connecting the indoor and outdoor living areas helped achieve this. Sustainability was a key feature of the brief with apartments achieving up to an 8.7 NatHERS star ratings.
