How and when did your studio begin?
I started freelancing while I was a journalist about eight years ago…
Who is involved?
Me, myself and I.
Where do you find inspiration for studio?
Are there any local ones? Everywhere and anywhere! US Vogue Creative Grace Coddington said “Always keep your eyes open. keep watching, because whatever you see can inspire you.”
Perth is seen as an emerging city, particularly for creative industries - do you feel like there are more opportunities in WA right now?
Yes I do. I think Perth is reinventing itself every day and I’ve noticed a real cross over between residential and hospitality/retail design. Each is borrowing more and more from the other - commercial spaces are becoming more ‘homely’ and homes are equally becoming a bit more ‘sophisticated.’
What do you think makes working in Western Australia unique?
That there are only 6 degrees of separation between everyone who lives here.
What kind of projects is the studio known for?
Labours of love!
Where is your favourite hometown spot?
Probably Brika - I could eat meze all day long.
What are your favourite local buildings?
I have so many! Cottesloe War Memorial Town Hall and Civic Centre (love Spanish mission style), Council House Perth (love Modernist style), The New State Library (love Kerry Hill’s work), the buildings of New Norcia, 61 Sydenham Road Doubleview, 8 Bennion Street Trigg…
What is the best thing about being involved in the design industry?
Getting paid to do something I love.
What should we expect to see from the studio in the future?
A baby taking over my Instagram… I am due in 5 weeks!
Rolling Stones or the Beatles?
